Immaculate Heart of Mary School added a spiritual and faith filled dimension to Halloween this year by celebrating with a Pumpkin Liturgy. First graders were the featured class who made IHM glow with the light of Christ. First graders in Ms. Monte’s class designed Saint-O-Lanterns which were later blessed at the pumpkin liturgy. Carving out eyes, mouth and a nose for each of their pumpkins and singing “ This little light of mine” as they worked together, each pumpkin was transformed into a Saint-O-Lantern and then set upon the altar reminding us to “Let our light shine bright.” Eyes were designed first as a reminder to open our eyes to see the wonderful things God has given us (Psalm 119:18). Mouths were then created for each pumpkin serving as a reminder to use our mouths to tell others about our faith. (Psalm 118:12) Filled with love, light and Divine Grace, the Liturgy ended with many bright blessings.
